UV bulbs.. can i..... #1
.....buy a higher W bulb and fit it? say a 16W?
the current UV bulb fitted is 6W.
i havent looked at the bulb yet (aint broke dont fix it).
would it add any benefit if i did fit a higher wattage bulb?

The system you have is for a 6 watt bulb, that means that all the electronic stuff is set to control a 6 watt bulb. If you use a bigger bulb the chances are it wont light up, and if it does then the system that is running it will over heat and could even cause a small fire.

So in short, no.

If you want a bigger UV buy the whole thing. But ask yourself if you need one? If the water is clear then you dont, if its green them you might.

By the way, did you know that you should change the bulb once a year? And while doing that clean the Quartz tube that its in. That will all help with its efficiency.

ok thanx. just wondered if you could get away with "modifying" it with out spending on a new unit. water looks fine at the moment.

new system so doesnt need replacing. thanx for the info as i didnt know it wud need it.
