Snails, either love em or hate em... #1
Thought a few people may find this interesting and helpful. As I have found a few tiny snails in my tank and I HATE snails bit like people who HATE spiders. Sorry to the snail lovers and breeders.

Must admit I was not a snail fan until I was given some trumpert snails and now find them very amusing to watch

Depends on the type of snail and what tank setup you want. I've got apples, nerites and 'free' ramshorn. None seem to eat plants unless the leaves are dying, although I have to thin out the ramshorns every so often. Love watching my apples 'base jump' off the tallest plants to the bottom of the tank.

Maybe it's just me or a pure fluke of some sort but when I got my tinfoil barbs my snail infestation cleared right up! Was gonna invest in a couple of clown loaches but I can never seem to keep them alive.. Anyway!

Try tinfoils they eat everything and anything!

3 years ago i got some plants, washed 'em seemed clean enough, only saw 2 live snails, but dad told me wouldn't do no harm. 2 weeks later the tank was crawling with snails.

Only managed to get them down to reasonable levels this year when i bought clown loaches.

Don't mind them tho'. They can be quite handy clearing up any dead leaves.

Many thanks for your comments and advise. Unfortunatly the the thought of snails in my tank make me kringe.

Thought the best way to sort my problem out is to get some Loaches. Clowns of course.

Thanks All...

Please don't buy clown loaches unless you have a huge tank to house the correct number of them.....five or more. These loaches grow very large and are often kept in inadequate tank sizes alone or with one other clown loach.

thank you for you help and comments.

I have already read up about them and looked at purchasing some older loaches around 3 to 4 inch ones.
