Re: PFK's site has been hacked #1
I just checked my e-mails to find this also, im fairly lucky in that i dont use the same password for any sites.

there is apparently some programmes you can use that will sit on your desktop and log your passwords for you, damned if i can remember the name of them though!

Sand Substrate Advice #2
As some of you may know i'm upgrading one fo my tanks, and i'm at the stage where i'm making a little list of everything I need and the prices! *gulp*

I currently have playsand for my 4ft, but i'm planning on a darker sand for the new tank, probably a dark brown.

The trouble i'm having is being able to see what the sand looks like when it's wet. I don't want something too dark.

So if anyone has a brown/black sand substrate in their tank and could show me some pics and where they got the sand from i'd greatly appreciate it?

Re: Sump Pump #3
Excellent, thanks for the input!

I'm not too worried by the noise, the tank wont be located anywhere that's used too much, if it is too noisy im sure i'll think of something.

Re: Sump Pump #4
It's going to be a freshwater tank (clown loaches needing a bit more fin room)

The lady I spoke to at the company suggested the Ehiem Compact +5000. I'm guessing this is considering the water in the sump tank as well?(sump will be 48x15x18")

Despite reading about 2 million articles on sumps im still slightly clueless xD

Re: Yay, cory fry! #5
Congrats on the fry!

From what i remember very finely crushed flake food should be okay. I also believe baby brine shrimp should be good for them too.

I dont have any personal experience with Liquifry myself so cant help you there.

Good luck with your new babies

Sump Pump #6
Bit of a rhyming title going on there

I've been thinking about buying a 6ft tank for a while now, i've finally found somewhere that seems quite reputable and doesn't have prices that are going to bankrupt me.

The tank im looking at should hold approx. 450-475L by the time i've got all my bits and bobs in. It will have a glass sump for filtration (not sure of the size at this time)

My question is how many litres an hour should the pump i'm looking at buying for the sump be shifting? The lower end ones are doing 1000-2000 l/h while some are upto 5000 l/h.

I'm sure i've read somewhere it should be doing three or four times the tank capacity if possible, but I can't find where I saw this info, so any help would be great :)

Custom Tank Suppliers? #8
It's been a long while since I was last around and didn't really know where to put this...

Im no longer moving house and decided to upgrade my 4ft tank to a 6ft tank. It seems, after a bit of research, that having the tank custom made seems cheaper.

Herein lies my problem, i've found several sites, some have got some pretty decent prices, but overall i'd prefer to order from somewhere reputable.

Has anyone got any suggestions for somewhere that sells tanks this size (along with cabinets) that aren't excruciatingly expensive?

Re: Shopping List and Cost :-S #10
Take a look at freecycle. There are a lot of people who have fish and don't have the time or space to look after them, and give away the tanks. That's how i got mine.

I also find small garden centers that sell fish often have quite good bargains on tanks.
