Some advice needed plz! #1
Hi there!

Me and my partner recently moved into a new house and the backgarden has a smallish pond in the corner. It looks very overgrown and in need to some TLC, and currently has no fish, but does have some kind of filtration system and a waterfall of some kind. I was curious as to water quality so I used my API test kit on it from previous fish tanks I have had. It all come back very clear and clean. I have never owned a pond before so I have no idea what to do and if it is suitable for fishes. It seems to be quite deep, maybe about 4-5ft?. ( From what I can gather by leaning over and sticking a broom down as far as i can and comparing it to my height). It seems the shallow end has gotten quite over grown with plants so it looks smaller than it is.

I found the pond filtration systems manual in the little handover folder the previous owners did ( Will attach pics ), but I just need some advice really - like could I put fish in it when its cleared up a a bit and the weather turns warmer?. I've always wanted to try to do a fish pond - even a small one - so I feel quite lucky.

Any advice is appreciated!

To be honest, I would wait till the warmer weather, and spring clean the pond. (Cut back all the overhanging plants, empty and clean the pond.) You may need new filter media, but you will a need a new UV lamp, as these only last 6 months.
