Re: Refractometer's #4
I started with an Aqua Medic Salimeter which was to difficult to read when the filter was on, then bought an Aqua Medic Hydrometer which was too tempermental and repeatedly gave incorrect readings, I'm now using a Deltec Refractometer which hasn't let me down yet.

Re: Refractometer's #5
For info only:

If you're going to use a glass floating hydrometer which is what the Aqua medic salimeter is, if possible use something like a glass spaghetti jar with tank water in so you can look through the side to get the reading without currents moving it all over the place.

The swing arm hydrometers can be pretty inaccurate, when I used to use one I left RO water in it whilst not in use (in a dark cupboard) so salt deposits didn't build up on the arm.

Refractometers are the best, ATC one's such as Aqua Medic, Deltec are pretty much the same model with a different badge on.
