Anyone know the policy at Pets at Home re dead fish? #1
What do you do if your fish die within a week?

I know that you get one weeks guarantee but do you take the fish and a sample of the water it was in along with the receipt to get an exchange?

Yeah, they will probably want a water sample and to see the fish, that's the deal at my LFS anyway.

I thought that would be the case.

Our next door neighbour bought a couple of fish during last week and one has just died for no apparent reason.

Shall tell him to take a takeaway tub with it in and some of his tank water.

Thanks.

I would take the water seperately, the dead fish will pollute the water sample otherwise.

Thanks for that.

He is more of a newbie to fishkeeping than I am so he hasn't a clue.

We are trying to talk him into getting a PC then he can visit this site as often as I do!

I bought some fish from pets at home and one died within a day. I rang them up and told them what had happened and they told me just to bring the fish in. i did this and they never asked any questions and replaced it straight away they didn't even ask for the till stub. to be honest though it isn't my fav shop to buy fish from they can be pretty rough when catching the fish and I don't think they really care about the animals they have there. Just my oppinion though

I have heard some terrible things about the state of the fish in there, I refuse to even set foot in the place.

The one nearest to us isn't too bad.

I have only seen a couple of 'floaters' in there opposed to loads in our LFS.

I have bought 3 fish from there in the past.

Jelly, the infamous celestial and I must admit the other two were rescue fish.

Blinky only has one eye so I offered him a good home when I bought another fish so they gave him to me for free and Orange Eyed Pea was originally called Scrapper because of the state she was in.

They are both thriving now so I must be doing something right.

Re: Anyone know the policy at Pets at Home re dead fish? #10
Well, there have been two fishes returned today.

My neighbours and ours.

The orange oranda (Rio) who I posted a photo of the other day died overnight.

Don't know what it was, the water was fine and the other fish, Bunker, seems ok. Our daughter doesn't tap on the tank or anything like that.

Anyway, I took the fish to Pets at Home and they just had a peek through the lod of the chinese takeaway container I took him in (so couldn't see much)checked the receipt and gave me another fish.

We shall see how we go with this one.

He seems happy enough, hasn't stopped swimming in and out of the bubble curtain for the last few minutes.
