TOPPING UP WITH TAP WATER... #1
Because of all this wonderful hot weather, the water in my pond has gone down a bit.Is it safe to top it up with tap water? Do I have to put the stuff that removes the chlorine in?My pond is in good health at the mo,and I don't wan to upset it.

Yes you should be fine topping up from the tap, when using tap water though you should always use a water conditioner to nutralise the chlorine etc, although they do say if it is a small amount then you may get away with it, but I wouldn't chance it to be on the safe side

Yes, unless you are using well water, you must always use dechlorinator when adding more water.

depends, i top my pond up about an inch or 2 with water from the hose without conditioner, if ur worried just spray it in, or use a watering can with a rose thing if theres a hose pipe ban

Dont quote me on this, but i think the use of a hose for livestock during a hose pipe ban is allowed.

probably but better to be on the safe side though

of and if you spray a hose u can fill a pond and most of the clorine dissipates off straight away, we fill our pond up like this when we clean it out

Yeah, i suppose it depends on the size of the pond, you willnt want to fill a 2000 gallon pond with watering cans

Spraying might work if it is just chlorine you are dealing with but chloramine does not gas off as it is too stable so a conditioner is still required.

That's the problem. We are just not sure what additives they use. Can't afford to take a chance though.
