Bubbler / Aerator #1
Hi all,
We're hoping someone might be able to offer us some advice on a bubbler/aerator for our pond.

The pond is freshwater, approximately 2 x 3m and approximately 1 - 1.5 metres deep (varies)
It is currently inhabited by goldfish (the largest being 3-4 inches in length) and is relatively weedy, with other species (diving beetles, some newts, frogs, pond skaters etc.)

We're happy with the pond the way it is, and it currently is without an aerator. The wildlife seems happy and the fish seem to be healthy.

However, we would really like a water feature in the middle of the pond, ideally not a fountain, something more akin to a "bubbler" to add a bit of atmospheric sound and some movement to the surface.
We really don't want a "fountain" with a visible head or a large spout of water or lighting, or anything like that. We would like it to look as natural as possible.

An electricity supply will be run to the feature so that's not a problem.
Budget would be ideally under £250.

What would you recommend, and what sort of size for our pond?

Any help much appreciated.

Re: Bubbler / Aerator #2
If you want water to make sound, it has to either fall from a height, or move very fast (Drawing in air as it moves) but you said you do not want a fountain or anything that is visible I can not think of anything that meets your criteria.

If on the other hand you would not mind a "rock" in the middle of your pond you could buy (or make) a rock feature. Drill a hole through its centre and pump water up through the hole. If the rock is raised above the water or it is an odd shape water would then fall creating a noise.

You can buy pre drilled rocks or you may want to look for a feature made from resin. You could even make your own from concrete, but if you do, it will need at least a week to dry after mixing, and should be sealed with a pond sealer to prevent lime from leaching into your pond and killing the fish.

Below is a suggestion

Something like this could easily be installed in a pond, but it would need a lot of support.
