Lethargic goldfish drifting onto side #1
Hi all, My comet goldfish has been pretty lethargic for the last 2-3 days and she hasn't been showing as much interest in food as usual. A few hours ago she starting drifting over onto her side while floating in the water, and now she's pretty much motionless in the water, lying on her side. I tested her water and the Ph has jumped from its normal 7.8 to 8.2. I tested the tap water and it too has jumped from 7.8 to 8.2. Could the change in ph after the last water change be causing her problems? Her tank is 105 litres and I've just taken out 6 litres and replaced it with 3 litres of bottled water. I'm going to add another 3 litres of bottled after half an hour. Is this too quick a replacement or not quick enough. She's looking pretty bad, hardly any movement at all.

The pH is unlikely to be the problem. There is something odd about your test results. You have 0 nitrates which should not be possible in a properly cycled tank. What test kit are you using?

Re: Lethargic goldfish drifting onto side #3
Thank you for replying but I'm afraid she died last night. The nitrate reading was probably because I had just done a water change 2 days beforehand. Normally it's somewhere between 5 and 10 when I test. The ph was the only thing that had really changed
