Stocking #1
Looking for stocking advice for my 65ltr female platy tank.

Currently have

4 full grown female platy - various breeds
2 four month old platy
1 one month old fry - if male will be taken out and added to male tank
1 new born fry - if not eaten and if is male will be taken out and added to male tank

On checking the calculators available I'm around 70% stocked.

Can I add anything else? perhaps a dwarf bottom feeder

Heated rectangle 65ltr

Filters
Fluval U2
Interpet CF1

Water parameters are good
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 5
PH 7.2
KH & GH are always low so adding in coral sand

Re: Stocking #2
Given you currently have hard water fish, it will depend on how hard your water is as most bottom dwellers prefer soft to medium. Up to 15 gH is OK for the Pygmy cory which needs to be in a group of six or more. https://www.fishkeeping.co.uk/modules/ ... sheet.php?caresheetID=198

Re: Stocking #3
My water is on the soft side (Scottish water) so have been slowly trying to increase the hardness to meet the needs of the platy without shocking them (already did that and lost one) and not using chemicals out a bottle to achieve this.

The softness of my water did cause my cycle to stall, but that's all sorted now thankfully after getting advice on this forum.

My platy journey started with mis-advice from pets at home unfortunately... they told me tank doesn't need to heated / cycled / any water hardness will do and gave a mix instead of all females!

They are all thriving thankfully

so I'm just working with what I've got.
