Lump on black moor tail #1
Hi all

I have a black moor and he has a nasty lump on his tail
He’s lived with it for three years but in the last week it’s doubled in size and a second is forming next to it
Today he’s very lethargic and slow
I’ve changed the water and am administering a course of melafix to see if this helps
Today came in and he’s at the bottom sitting there and just floating about still breathing and didn’t eat food

Any help please we are desperate to save our baby

Re: Lump on black moor tail #2
Sorry to read about / see this.

Keeping water quality in optimum condition (0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, <20 nitrates) will be crucial. This may mean daily water changes of anything between 20-50%. Monitor the water quality at least twice daily for the next week/s. Your water test results ought to guide you as to what amount to change and the frequency.

Administer the Melafix after a water change, so as not to dilute it by a water change later in the day.

If there's no change in the next few days, let us know, and we'll advise further about whether to try a different/stronger medication.

I'm struggling to focus on the lumps - can you describe them in as much detail as possible or maybe get a clearer photo, please?

Re: Lump on black moor tail #3
Okay, need some advice on how to check levels in tank please
Also thinking of putting in Bi-ORB first aid filter

The lumps seem to be white in colour apart from the edge which is black
The biggest one looks heavy and the smaller one has a black spot on as well

He seems a bit better this morning but the lumps are not getting smaller in size
