hi everyone,this is my first visit here so be gentle.
question for you.
im trying to breed red and black clownfish at the mo and i orderd a pair.they have been in the tank now for about 4-5 weeks.she was ok to start but now she has started to fin nipp and chasing him alot.according to other contacts this could be the start of the mating ordeal they go throu.seems to me its a bit rough.so here i am asking for some help in the matter and all suggestions are welcome.

The cinnamon clowns get extremely aggressive when they are mating. i've heard of one bite a coworker and not let go even when he had pulled his finger otu the water. although attacking the mate seems a bit strange though im not a breeder and dont know an awful lot.

hopefully DragonLord will be able to help (i think he has a friend that breeds clowns or an expert in clowns)

yea i'll ask a work colleege on friday but as far as i know he only breeds percs

What size is your tank? do you keep any other fish in the tank?

goldy,yes they are a.melanopus from the indonesian waters.they are not as dark as that picture they are very pale orange the black marking doesnt take up half the body it's more like a thumb print size.i will get a picture loaded up when i work out how to.

regarding tank size its approxamately 40 gallons and hexagonal in size.actual tank size is 24 inches high and each of the 6 sides measures 14 inches wide.(it works out to be equivalent to a 4ft long by 2ft high by 2ft wide tank).the two clowns have the tank to themselves apart from the living rock and striped mushrooms and small anemone's.
