UV problem #1
Hi there. I have a problem with my Pond UV, its a Oase Bitron 25W and although there is power at the tube the tube wont light up. Have tried 3 tubes so its not a tube problem. Has anyone any ideas on this please. Thanks in advance, Alan.

Re: UV problem #2
If I had a non working UV I would check.

1) Is the mains on (how did you check it? never rely on a "voltage indicator" as these can give false readings and don't indicate if there is a neutral)

2) Check lamp connections, any corrosion? (If so find out why, has the quartz tube cracked?)

3) Change the lamp. if the lamp is black at one end it has expired, new lamp.

4) Ballast unit failed. Change the ballast unit. (Sadly the one for the bitron 25 is officially obsolete)
Good quality costs. Bear this in mind before you start.

Sorry if my reply is NOT want you want to hear, but what I have said is true.

We can only go by what you type.

A "thank you" costs nothing, but goes a long way.

Re: UV problem #3
Thank you 2010 for your reply. The first three of your suggestions have all been checked and eliminated, however your 4th suggestion was one I had not even thought of. As the unit is now a few years old and the ballast unit is no longer made I have just ordered a new UV off Ebay. Thanks for your help. Alan.
