Urgent help needed poorly fish! #1
Hello. I really hope someone can help me. My gold fish had a big lump growing on side of his body! It's growing under the skin! He also has a bad eye. I have only just noticed the lump today so it has grown overnight. I have no clue what it could be. He is swimming normal and eating normal. I will upload some photos. All help appreciated. Thanks

Have you tested the tank water? If so could you post the water results, please. What size is your tank?

For what it's worth, one of my fish has a growth exactly the same place. I'm intending to take him to the vet as, so far, Esha 2000, Octozin or salt hasn't touched it.

You fish may also need treatment by a vet. But if the water parameters are alright and the tank size if fine, you could try Esha 2000.

I haven't got any test strips but I'm buying some first thing tomorrow. My tank is 60liters and I have two fish In total. I just noticed his poo is white and red and very stringy? Doesn't look normal. Thanks x

Do you have any aquarium salt or medication to hand, and, if so, what? It might be that a dose of aquarium salt might help this evening, at least until tomorrow if you don't have any medication to hand. If you do have medication to hand this evening, then we may be able to advise on which/whether any of them might be suitable in this case.

Also - can you describe how the eye is?

If you're buying test strips, generally, these don't test for ammonia which is a key one you'll need to test for, as well as nitrates and nitrites, so do make sure that you buy an ammonia test, or even the API Master Test Kit which includes all of these and will work out cheaper in the long run - and as accurate as tests get.
