May have added ammonia that is not pure? #1
Hoping someone can help as I'm feeling very stressed.
I've had a terrible start to fish keeping. Set up my 28ltr aqua one 320 with the advice from pets at home and my lfs to leave the tank to stand for 3 days and then add fish which I did, two danios and a white clouded minnow. Needless to say that one by one they have all died.
have now researched tank cycling etc and have been adding ammonia bought from robert dyas to my now empty tank for a couple of days. Having read some posts on ammonia I'm worried that what I've added isn't pure ammonia. What should I do if isn't? Will I have to fully clean out the filter and start all over?

Check what the ingredients list on the bottle says and post back for further advice

The brand is home care essentials bought in Robert dyas
All it says on the bottle is Ammonia less than 5% non-ionic surfactant.
Not seeing any other ingredients listed I assumed it was a pure source but I have given the bottle a vigorous shake and it seems to be foaming.

Yes if it contains surfactants it's unsuitable for cycling. You'll need to clean everything and start again I'm afraid

There is a company on ebay selling ammonia, the advert specifies that it is suitable for fishless cycling and it was recommended to me by someone here.

It must feel so frustrating but hopefully it will be third time lucky for you.

This is the one I use. It's absolutely safe for cycling and the right strength for our ammonia calculator (on the fishless cycling page).
