Refugium for brackish tank #1
In about 1 month, I'll set up my brackish tank (200l) to keep a puffer in it.

I want to make a refugium to keep ghost shrimps and maybe red-claw crab (wild caught) in it too.

I've been researching but not quiet understand about it yet. It's a filter but with plants that feed on toxins in water? If then which plant is good for brackish and how much is enough? I have a 90l glass tank that I want to use as a refugium for the 200l tank. This tank will also house ghost shrimps and crabs.

Any instructions and advises would be really great!

Re: Refugium for brackish tank #2
Anyone?
I'm getting the grip of what I'll have to do at the moment but not so sure.

My plan is a build the first 5-10cm of the tank into regular sump that hold filter media and lots of crushed corals. And use another like 10cm at the other end for a water pump to pump water back into the main tank. That will leave me around 60l of water left for plants and crab/fish to habit. Hope it's a good idea, I will do more calculation later.
I'm going to use mangroves but only 1 tree and another one in the main tank, I want the one in the main tank to grow a big root system like in the wild but still don't know how to prune.

Please any advice or suggestion will be really great (like how to keep crab, which shrimp, plants, type of pump, positioning lights...). There's no way I could buy brackish live stock/plants so I'll have to make a trip to brackish area.

I have 1 and a half month to prepare/cycle the tank

Looks like it

I think I'll have to go through a series of trial and errors for brackish tank.

I'm excited as I'll have a field trip as soon as I graduate highshcool but also worried because I'm running blind.
