South American Suggestions for my tank. #1
Sooo, due to my step mum and sister loving my tetras,
They have now all be moved on,
Soo I am looking for some medium 4 plus inch South American Cichlids,
For my 48x18x18.
Now they have to be plant friendly,
Cory Friendly as I have 10
Not bother my Ottos,
Super soft water, 6 Ph, 26 dgrees,
And get on with Heros efasciatus, this is a future plan but a must,

Finally not Angel fish, (sorry Buffy n Angel) or Dwarf Apist, I have another tank earmarked for a pair of Dwarfs,

I was thinking along the lines like firemouths sort of thing, but they may bully n stress my corys,

Was also thinking of a group of Coloumbian tetras, but will these munch my plants,
Soooo Gimme some ideas,,,

How about Flag cichlids? Mesonauta festivus or Mesonauta insignis are both peaceful, love a well-planted tank and are compatible with your other tankmates. They should get on OK with H. efasciatus too, though the Heros will eat/uproot your plants. Or maybe Keyholes Cleithracara maronii ?

Firemouths are CA rather than SA so would like the water a bit harder.

Thanks fishlady,
I looked at keyholes, but I was looking for something other than brown/ gold with a black stripe, as I have alot of fish that colour lol,
Havin said that I have seen some lovely Leopoldi Angels lol,

I was aware heroes can be diggers n plant eaters, my local breeder has shown me his breeding ones and fry/juvies, he keeps them in a planted tank, he has the od few leaves eatern but never up rooted, they like his hair grass,
He has advised give them a good varied diet, and they should leave your plants alone, most of the time.

My Rotties aren't eating the plants so far - kind of expecting them to when they get bigger based on what caresheets say, but so far so good. Mind they do get regular veggies and are very keen on those
