What's my Catfish #1
A little while ago I was sold a "black and silver" catfish. Having searched online I can't find any by this name.

I have attached a picture. it is about 10cm long (and growing) with black and silver stripes and a rounded head.

Does anyone know what it is?

Re: What's my Catfish #3
Hi Darren. Violet ids right the photo isn't great, but it could be Tachysurus fulvidraco, Amur Catfish.

What size tank do you have it in, if it is the above catfish then they can grow to about 14" long and need a tank of around 300 litres (60x18x18inches). Do not house with other smaller fish as it will eat anything smaller than itself. They are a temperate catfish and should not be kept in tropical aquariums, top temp being around 24c.

The anal fin reminds me a bit of this but I can't see the rest of the body clearly, so don't panic yet

Re: What's my Catfish #9
Still can't be sure, but it looks suspiciously like a young Paroon Shark (Pangasius sanitwongsei). Have a look at this species profile or type the name into Google images and compare to yours.

If that IS what it is you need to return it or rehome it as its adult size is 4 feet long and weight up to 30kg. Most definitely not suitable for your tank, or anything less than a public aquarium

Re: What's my Catfish #10
Thank you.

It was definately sold from a tropical fish shop as a catfish, going to a private home.
