Mouse! What sort is this... #1
Spotted it when I was photographing a wedding at the weekend. It hopped like a kangaroo.

Its a Gerbil. No, seriously it looks like a "Hopping Mouse", normally native to Australia.

Think that's a field mouse

Looks quite different from the one that is cowering under my cooker atm (collected by Mabel last night )

He/she is sooo sweet. Just like a little child. Was it taken local to you?

Probably not my hopping mouse then, more likely Cathies field mouse. But the only problem with the field mouse is that they are nocturnal creatures.

I get loads of them in my work (We're near a big park)

I can sometimes catch them by hand (For a big man, I'm pretty fast!) and release them outside.
They're big feet and hopping movement is funny for a mouse. Their kind of like tiny degus.

Love the 'stealth' pic! I'd go with field mouse. They don't seem to bother with nocturnal, the one that lives under our shed is out and about all the time. My Dad photographed these two babies a few days ago in his garden (he lives in the Suffolk countryside, very rural so field mice are definitely locals). A bit of bird food and they posed nicely - awwwwww!

Look at those big feet!

My mouse is behind fridge now, is definitely a house mouse given how unkeen it is to return to back garden ...
