Ive been toying with the idea of getting a snake for a while (not done any research yet though) and I had a thought. I have a couple of spare fish tanks, one 120l and one 170l ish. I was wondering if I could use these to keep a small snake? I know I would need bits of equipment if it is possible.
It would also have the advantage of being able to go upstairs because the weight wouldnt be a problem.
Mrs FA is very happy with the idea! She loves snakes and to be honest it would probably be her that did most of the looking after. Strange I know As long as I can find a suitable place for it to go and it's not too expensive too keep.
I had a boa a couple of years ago in a clear seal tank with a mesh lid, drilled a hole in the side and put in a vent in the end. Mitch seemed very happy in there until he outgrew both the tank and me at 5ft long lol!
A friend of mine kept and bred garter snakes, they stay fairly small AFAIK and as for good natured, I never got bitten by one. I'm not really a snake fan as such but I didn't mind holding these ones. I dunno anything about them so here's a link- http://www.gartersnake.co.uk/
Thanks for the concern Natter I wont be getting anything deadly though
I keep a draw full of knives in the kitchen but he doesnt get to them so he should be ok with a small snake up in the spare room I know there is a chance of ecsape but if its small and harmless there'll be know need to worry I'm more worried about vicious Onken!
GWA has (or had?) some corn snakes - would they be any good? I don't know anything about them myself, just remembered GWA posting about them. I did find a website all about them though http://www.cornsnake.co.uk/index.php
