Oase Pondovac 2 #1
Hi everyone.

First post and hoping for some help.

I was recently given an Oase Pondovac 2 from a mate at work. It had been in his garage for ages and he had no idea if it still worked.

After a good clean up I switched it on and the motor worked fine. Problem is that is sucks through both the inlet and discharge pipes. After a bit of research I realize that there is some king of one way valve somewhere on the discharge hose, mine has no valves and I suspect, if the non return valve is integral with the discharge hose, that I have an extension hose only. My mate tells me that is all the bits he has.

I have looked on line at loads of pictures (unfortunately most sites use the same ones) and can see no valves on the end of the hose. There is also no listing for a return hose valve on any spare parts web sites.

So my questions are:

Can anybody please confirm the location of the return hose valve?
Is there anywhere on-line I can order one from?
I have found the return hose for sale on-line, will I need to buy the complete thing in order to get the valve and is a new return hose going to have the valve?

Thanks in advance for any help / advice you can give me.

Steve

Do you know how a pond o vac works? They are not like normal vacuums. You switch it on via a remote control unit, clean a bit of your pond (until its full) switch it off by the remote control, wait for it to empty, and start again.

They were popular because they are a vacuum cleaner for a pond, but soon became un popular when people realised you had to keep stopping and starting and waiting.

Oase (who make it) came up with the pond o vac 3, which has two chambers, one fills as the other empties, so you can continuously vac you pool.

Since you should not be vacuuming your pool this time of year, I suggest you wait until next year and get a pond o vac 3 on ebay they quite often come up on there.

Oh, a drawing, you want this one. No valve shown.

Hi 2010,

Thanks for the reply. Yes I now understand how the pond o vac works. Don't worry, I have no intention of using this until the spring.
Just seems like a shame not to use it as it seems to work fine apart from the return valve issue.
I guess if no one knows different I will order a complete new return hose and hope it comes with the one way valve.

Hey,

Ive got a funyn feeling that the one way valve is in the canister rather than the pipe, but i could be wrong.

It might be worth phoning oase, they have a very good customer service team and i have heard of them sending things out free of charge, thats proberly going to be your best bet.

Other than that the only other thing i can do is when im back work, ill have a look at one and see where it is, but that willnt be for another week now.

Re: Oase Pondovac 2 #7
For what its worth, the pondoVac 2 became obsolete about 10 years ago, so I doubt you will get a manual for it.

There is the pondoVac 5 and pondoVac premium available
Good quality costs. Bear this in mind before you start.

Sorry if my reply is NOT want you want to hear, but what I have said is true.

We can only go by what you type.

A "thank you" costs nothing, but goes a long way.
