Re: film on water #2
try a second powerhead to make more disturbance, there should be enough to prevent any film from appearing.

i was without the second powerhead in my tank for a couple of weeks as i broke the impellor shaft and had to get a replacement, the water surface at the one end of the tank kept developing a film on it where the flow from the powerhead at the other end couldnt get to.

how many gallons or litres per hour turnover do you get from all the pumps in your tank?

Re: film on water #5
i get 3000 from my sump pump, i broke my koralia ceramic spindle again so im using a lower power powerhead think thats why the film isnt clearing its gone a bit though where you told me to point the other power head at the top..
think i need to invest in some new powerheads

If you have a sump shouldn't the weir be skimming the film off the surface of the water faster than it can form?

Re: film on water #7
i dont know....where the weir is its got a glass box around it and around that is a perspex black box with slits, the pipe that the water goes looks like a tap head it flows down where the water would come out of if it was a tap if you know what i mean....could this be why ???? if you need pictures let me know......

Re: film on water #8
i know why now, the water is flowing down to the sump underwater and not causing a weir effect.
thanks eagle i wouldnt have noticed that otherwise
