What's this? #1
Hi,
ID help please. Two of these have come out on my new live rock. They are about 8mm across. What are they?

Thanks,
Roy

Looks like Aiptasia to me, which would be bad. Let someone else corroborate that, hard to tell from the pic.

If it is Aiptasia there are specific methods you should use for its removal, don't just pull it off the rock.

Yeah, sorry for the rubbish pic.

Damn, I thought it might be. Should I wait till they are bigger before treating them with whatever? Or will it work on them just as well when they are small?

Thanks Goldnugget

They have an incredibly powerful sting, rumored to only be matched by Torch and Hammer corals and they multiply like mad if left to their own devices. They can be devastating in a reef tank, they can kill corals with repeated stings.

You can use Aiptasia-X or Kalk to get rid of them. Joes Juice, Boiling RO and lemon juice are among other options.
