Re: not such a mystery #2
Does it have bristles on its nose? Could be a medusa plec?

Re: not such a mystery #5
K Made this to show his fave hidey spots, yeah i wanted to get one that wouldnt end up living in a crowded house

The big white circles are where he likes to be, the small ones are his feeding route he goes from the spot on the right under the wood, along the small circles and to cave 1

the blue dashed line are where the tetras swim through the wood tunnel

you cant see any danios ofc cos they are just blurs.

and this is a really bad pic tbh, cant believe i kept it but was the first i could find that showed the whole tank

Re: not such a mystery #6
I love that, youve mapped out the routes of your fish, great!

Maybe i'll do something similar but mine will just be some lazy fish loitering around willy nilly.

My plec tends to keep to his big bogwood cave which im pleased about as I chose the piece with him in mind.

Ive just had the delicate cask of attaching some java fern to a piece of bogwood and some rocks. I believe you had the same problem? I heeded the advisors advise (sorry cant remember who it was ) and wound the thread round a few times. Seems to have done the trick. Any more luck with yours?

Anyway, off to work I go....

Re: not such a mystery #7
ooh well *spotted* flapping animal!

That tank will be fab when the plants are properly grown in

I've just had to reattach a load of java fern to a piece of bogwood, nearly drove me mad. Black cotton is the least noticeable, but my attempts ended in a frenzy of knots and tangles In the end I sacrificed more of my food grade silicone bands - I found it easiest to put them round the bogwood in strategic places, then tuck the roots of the fern under them - that way you always have 2 hands to work with. Alas the bands are blue, have hidden most of them but am hoping the last bits will get hidden quick.

Re: not such a mystery #8
You realy found it that difficult? Im starting to wonder if I did it right now.

I can imagine it being a nightmare when the wood is in the tank, but out of water?

The cotton does show a bit but ive hidden it the best i could.

Luetin, could you get one of those java ferns on a stick (or whatever lol) and atach the stick to the back of your big bogwood so it looks like its growing from behind? (am I making any sense?)

Oh and on the plec id front I just typed in 'spotted plec' into google images and found one that resembled yours! No thats a lie, I knew the plec off the top of my head!

I did find it very difficult, I felt I had 2 hands too few!! It is an awkward shaped bit of wood, and there was a lot of fern ... will go get a pic in a minute

(I think it's too big for the tank but it's in my youngest's bedroom and she particularly wanted it, who am I to argue)

Tank's not finished yet btw

Re: not such a mystery #10
That would probably be it. My bogwood was an easy shape and small ferns.

Do you know how long it takes to root to it Cathie?
