Change UV bulb? #1
Just wondered if i could put a more powerful UV bulb in my fishmate UV 5000 filter?

it currently has a 9 watt installed in it but i may need a more powerful UV to clear my pond of algae as its 1200 - 1300 gallons.

also will any UV light do, do they fit all filters?

finally ... would it be worth buying a UV clarifier and what type would be best suited for me?
Here to learn and maybe give advice

Re: Change UV bulb? #2
Im a fraid not, the actual ballast is just for one bulb, if the bulbs smaller then it'll blow and if its to big then it'll blow the ballast.

Off the top of head i think the fishmate has the pls type, so its got two glass tubes and just two pins on one end.

In terms of new uv then look at either the tmc pondclear or the kockney koi UV filters, both of these go inline and if its the pressuised filter you got then it can go before or after the filter.
