After all the help i got in setting up the my tangy tank i thought i would post an update on how the inhabitants had been getting on in their new home.
I think its coming up for a month or so since the first fish went in the tank, Spike the masked julie was then join a fortnight or so later by a trio of brevis.
I must admit i am still not sure wether i do have the 1m 2f i aimed at however there is no major battles between them and they seem to hang together so whatever sex they are they are happy as a group which is all that counts. As for brevis only hanging near their shells- these spend a while at a shell )no particular they seem to share all shells) and the rest of the time dithering around exploring. No major wars with Spike either. He does chase them away if they get too close to his home cave but other than that they seem ok even passing eachother without even so much as a tiny flare from brevis or julie.
Water parameters have settled down after a week of waterchanges every other day and all seem happy with their menu of, tetra pro flake, gamma improvit chiclid pellets, jellied daphnia and bloodworm, freezedried tubifex, and frozen, cyclops, brineshrimp with garlic and red plankton!!
Fairly spoilt i think!!
Anyway hopefully all will continue in this vain. Really glad ive gone into cichlid land! They really are characters!
Anyway fingers crossed for no major problems. Trying my best and hopefully will be rewarded with a happy healthy tank of tanganyikans! Thanks for all the advice as always guys!
