flour sieve it out? The filter will catch it otherwise I'd have thought.

Re: HELP FISH HAS EATEN TISSUE #3
but what about the bits the fish already ate! and the pieces are so small and the tank is tall and hexagonal Ive done my best to get the floating bits out but there is still more and the fish will probably try to eat it throughout the day!

I don't think it will be toxic, I went through a phase of eating tissues when I was a kid and I'm fine (no comments on that thank you!!!). Yes I was a strange child.

Try turning the flow up on your filter, the water will circulate quicker and hopefully clear up sooner.

Re: HELP FISH HAS EATEN TISSUE #5
anyway to siphon water out and run it though a sieve or similar and then put it back again? Might be a bit tedious tho!

I'd have though the fish will be ok.. just poo it back out again!

one of my fish is now struggling and coughing big bits of tissue out.. are you sure they can digest it? I was worried it already had a swimbladder problem/ serious constipation this will just make it worse! argh

Re: HELP FISH HAS EATEN TISSUE #7
it's probably not a lot different from them trying to eat anything else floating around like bits of plant etc. If it can't be eaten generally they just 'cough' it back out.. sometimes for another go!

If you know they have definately eaten some, would feeding them something that helps them poop easier be any good? like peas or something like that. Not sure, hope they are o.k

Re: HELP FISH HAS EATEN TISSUE #9
Thanks all for calming me down..

I took everything out of the tank, turned the filter up and spent half an hour sieving the bits out. Im annoyed now because I can't get the decor to exactly how it was and I get upset over stuff like that.

Oh well. I put the fish back in and now theyre pooing out tissue -.-"

thank god.

Re: HELP FISH HAS EATEN TISSUE #10
Not much point in giving them peas for that lol, I think paper has about as much fibre as a fish can handle lol.

Theyll just spit it out or puke it up, and probably be fine. If they swallow it they will be able to digest it, they have protozoa in the gut almost designed to help them with that.Fish often eat far worse than that, probably even find it comes out real quick lol.

Of most concern in tissues are bleaching agents, but TBH the water volume they hit will probably neutralise that.

I too ate tissue paper as a child. Perhaps the all meat and chocolate diet wasnt cutting it?
