Discus Colouration #1
I have been keeping discus for a while now and although they are all healthy and eating well they all seem to have faded colours compared to the condition that they were bought.

Can anyone advise ways of bringing out the best colours from these fish? Lighting, food etc?

Thanks,

Mike

Re: Discus Colouration #3
The fish in particular was a vibrant yellow colour when bought but faded to a duller brown over the course of two to three weeks and pretty much stayed the same since.

As the article suggests, there is more than a good possibility that I was diddled with that one but found a much better (if more expensive) supplier since.

There are also a couple of turqouise and a checkerboard in the tank so discounting hormone treatments i was hoping someone knew of some magical lighting system or food that is not colour specific that may help.

Cheers,

Mike

Re: Discus Colouration #5
Some of the hikari foods contain astanxanthin, its probably one of the most effective and yet still the safest fish colouring food additives around. Try some and youll probably find at least the red shades will return in around a month.
