Silver/Bala shark #1
Last saturday i bought a silver shark, now this might sound ridiculous as it might not be biologically possible but everytime it eats it's food just seems to come straight back out through its gills. It's not coming out of it's mouth. I'm kind of worried that it's not getting any food.
please help

Re: Silver/Bala shark #3
Hi,
If it's noticeable that food is exiting through the gills then there's a problem - either the food presented is highly distasteful to the fish (I've lost count of the times I've discovered out-of-date/mouldy flake food being fed to "problem" fish!) or they have a genuine ailment which requires some sort of treatment. In the latter case, it's time to ask a vet's advice, as I've had fish with throat tumours do this and there really is no remedy which doesn't involve veterinary treatment. The best thing to do is have a vet take a look at the fish, if possible, so they can assess the condition. They might discover a piece of gravel/plant etc. in the fish's throat and end the problem in a two seconds! It happens like that more times than you'd imagine!
