I've recently aquired a "Blue Lobster" from my local petshop. It's thriving in my coldwater fishtank, and has moulted twice. However, I would like more info on what it actually is, and it's life style, for want of a better word. I imagine it's actually a Crayfish rather then a Lobster. The shop has it identified as Charax quadrifasciatus, though having Googled it, I don't believe such a creature exists!! Closest I can find is Cherax quadricarinatus. Any further info would be appreciated.
Did the shop identify it themselves? Most likely they stuck the label on with the name that the exporter told them - these are quite often incorrect or just mispelt. The name you have found is very likely the one they meant, it seems too close to me. Did the name you found match it?
Ooops, yep, that's the one!! Must say, the article paints a rather different picture to that from the pet-shop!! Don't suppose that should be a surprise, really! Currently, it's cohabiting peacfully with the rest of the tank's occupants, but they're all currently bigger than he is! Looks like I will have to separate them soon, as it's growing remarkably fast!
