Hi just a poll of sorts to see how many members we have that keep cichlids or are intrested in doing so.

Any cichlid keepers what do you have?
Dwarf cichlids in the community? let us know
Angelfish?

I love them! Not much clue about them and the different kinds right enough but they are gorgeous fish and their set-ups are lovely too. Its great to have a section just for them, we can all learn a bit more about them

I do like their bold colours and variety but they dont seem to be good community fish

some cichlids can be kept as a community, just depends what community it is really

i keep tanganyikans at home and have kept angelfish but i'm also the one that takes care of the cichlid system at work (tank maintenance, waterchanges and decorating etc)

The vast majority of cichlids are not community minded unless of course its a cichlid community.

However every community tank that I have kept has included cichlids.
Angels,kribs,blue rams and egyptian mouthbrooders.
I was going to add cockatoos to my angelarium but the wife really really liked leopard corys.
Also all of the above have spawned in the community except the angels, with no adverse effects.

I have 6 keyhole cichlids, they are very peaceful and gentle and my parents keep Malawi cichlids in the lounge and they look great.

I have 3 angels in my 3' community and occasionally they have a pop at each other, but don't bother anything else.

I'd be interested if wild angels are still available as the ones I've seen are small fancy types and I don't think you can beat the original stripey ones, although one of my 3 is a gold one! The other two are stripey but they're not that good as the stripes aren't that well defined.

I've got a pair of bolivian rams in my community tank and they are doing really well. They are hilarious to watch I'd never been that interested in them and probably wouldn't have got any but Coralline needed to rehome a bunch of fish so I took them in they are real characters, I love them

I have blue rams and golden rams :) Both types are fine in a community tank. They're probably the prettiest and most fun fish I have. When I'm hoovering the tank they try and suck the hoover, I nearly hoovered one up once
