Re: OH NO, Mantis Shrimp at large #31
Got the second Mantis shrimp out of tank today but he died, I think the fizzy water was just too much for him to handle. Nelson is still alive and kicking and has taken a liking to fresh haddock, AHHHH

Don't think theres any more Mantis's to worry about now, had no further sightings apart from Nelson of coarse. He'll soon be on his way to Coralline, no more plastic tub for him, he'll be in the lap of luxury

Re: OH NO, Mantis Shrimp at large #35
I think these are fascinating creatures . I didn't realise they were so rare over here, apparently people get them all the time in America and very rarely keep them alive as they are seen as pests. But the few that do keep them alive are always very glad they did, they are incredible little animals and so smart and SO beautiful. I think they're just misunderstood - a large one could definitely cause you damage but this little guy will be harmless to you right now. Thats very good of you to send him to coralline, I'm a little jealous! I'm very glad though that he's going to a good home and I promise he will be great entertainment .
Hey if you ever find another one let me know !

Re: OH NO, Mantis Shrimp at large #36
i can't wait!! and i will be watching my fingers! lol
not got a very good track record tho! - the guy in my lfs had to stop me from buying a very pretty 'fire urchin' at the weekend incase it spiked me! but hopefully nelson will be a good shrimp, and keep away from my fingers if i have to put my hands in the tank for anything!

Re: OH NO, Mantis Shrimp at large #37
Posted Nelson off to Coralline today, hope he makes it on the journey. I think he must be quite tough to survive the live rock journey, which came through overnight post wrapped up in clingfilm, then the fizzy water a few days later. Anyway he seems to be eating ok so time for him to leave. BYE BYE NELSON hope you arrive ok
