Ok retested some water I had left sitting. PH remains the same. Tested Nitrate again and this one seems to be around 0-5ppm. Think the fact I checked results last night in artificial light made it look darker. Checked today in daylight and it looks yellow rather than orange.

Im going to do a few more nitrate tests over the next few days, see if it makes a difference whether it is tap water or out of the hose etc.

bought the eheim 200 pump,it's great. v quiet, power controls and does 2 stones.
got good deal. £18 from zooplus. you get a discount coupon with 1st order
would recommend the pump.

Tank filled, all setup with filter running. Very pleased. Added prime earlier and just starting the cycle tonight. Need to sort plants now.

It is a tricky one.

Was dead set on a red cap oranda, but like the look of the calico red head oranda. And second fish will be a ranchu, red and black or red and white.. decisions, decisions.
