Re: How to make your own ... #21
Gosh! I wish I was one of those bright, creative sort of people, but sadly I am not , so this will be my only post on this thread

I have enough problems trying to 'create' something every night for tea!

MAKE YOUR OWN LIVE FOOD CAGE OR FEEDER...

its easy all you need is a plastic bottle and a tight.

cut the bottle at each end to make a open end cylinder
then stretch the tight over it to like a fine mesh at one end and still a long piece of tight at the other end.. this allows water to pass through the botton keeping the water fresh..

USES FOR IT...

washing small live food like a sieve
emergency fry cage
live food cage/storer
long-term feeder

just drape the long piece of tight over the edge of the tank the close the lid keeping it in posision

LONG TERM FEEDER

if u put some food at the bottom and it sinks.. the fish can slowly eat little bits that come through the tight.. this also works with daphnia as they multiply quick.. when the little ones are born they can go through the mesh to be ate

USING FOR WASHING

if u plan to use it to was live food a shorter cylinder would work better but apart from that u can ajust the size for different uses...

easy to make easy to modify

REALLY USEFUL TO HAVE
MAKE IT FOR NEXT TO NOTHING

p.s will put a pic up soon

This sounds like a fab idea! Please post a pic so I can make sure what I've got in my head is what you're advising

I'm assuming you use cheapo tights of low denier?

Is this idea for live food only? I only use pellets & jellied bloodworms, would this by a good way of allowing the bloodworms to get disturbed by the water & distributing around the tank for my fish to enjoy instead of being clumps on the bottom?

I have read on another forum that soaking pellets before giving them to the fish is a good idea so I'm sure this would be a great way of soaking your pellets before the fish get to them & may keep them busy for a while trying to get the food out

the best part is its so easy to adjust, if you pull the tight really tight the holes expand and when i did it it was letting out a few daphnia a minute where as if u ave it with no strain the thing on the inside can't get out

Re: How to make your own ...Plywood Tank #30
Hi everyone! Has anybody had any experience of making a plywood aquarium? If so, what did you use to seal the plywood with?
