Re: Building your first pond #21
Hello Ella, goldfish can go in with koi, BUT it has to be a koi pond, you can't put koi in a goldfish pond. Which do you want to do?
If its just for one fish and a friend has koi ask them will they take the goldfish, and when are the visiting times.

Re: Building your first pond #22
Hello 2010

I am considering a goldfish pond - it was just a curiousity question re koi.

We may find a home for Dave (Goldy), but If the area in our garden mentioned in my post is suitable, we will seriously consider a pond.

Is it the same set up as an aquarium, cycling wise that is.

Many Thanks

Ella

Re: Building your first pond #23
For suitability it depends on is the area under or near trees.
To construct a pond properly is a lot of effort, and can take some time (and money) more information is at the start of this topic

Yes, a pond should ideally be cycled but the truth is no one does.

No problem. But if you do "go for it" please take pictures along the way, then post them.
