Re: Rams: Bullying, Sexing & General Advice #21
I always go for the underdog so would have to keep the Sub, besides he's prettier and I read that the sub is often the more intelegent in cases where the Aggresor is constatly chasing like a bull as he's avoiding conflict where possible. Just off to check on them now - hopfully won't have to separate again.

Here's the emergency split tank for anyone who's interested. The plants look sparse from this angle but there is a thick hedge front to back and huge lump of slate that's hidden from view. Bit of a mess but should do till the weekend...

That tank needs a background. ASAP. Get one as dark as possible. Ramses has a grey, tree root pattern on his tank, but the Q tank has a black bin bag on it (must get round to changing that at some point ).

Edit// I didn't mean that to come out as harsh as it might have I'm just trying to get the urgency across

There's a 2x1 ft slate roof tile behind there against the wall (I have loads of these, they make great instant real slate backdrops) but I moved it when adding the extra heaters, fliters etc on the right hand side. Left it out for a better picture of whats happening inside the tank :D

The sub looks stressed. He can see outside the tank on all sides, and he's stressing about it. I can just see him hiding behind the plant near the partition.

Here's a pic of Aries in the Q tank for comparison (it should be on the forums somewhere because LHG told me off for this, but I can't find the thread).

This photo paints a bad rep of what's really gong on here. In actual fact the sub is the bold one on our left with the minnows, he's seems fine most of the time I've just separated them because of the constant chasing. The Little fish you can see on our right in the plants is not hiding, he's found a window where he can see the sub on the other side of the glass and is trying to find a way through until something else distracts him or the sub swims out of view. Both fish are pretty bold and not worried about swimming out in the open - just the aggressor is relentless so had to split em for now and I'll do a swap on sat.

You're right then - the pic does give a bad rep, cos I'd have bet my last penny on the fish on the right being the sub.

Still need a background though

Rest assured TL there is a big, dark, gloomy, grey, slate background there and I shut the blinds on my way out!

Any chance you can get a better pic of the tank? One that shows as much of the decor in the tank as possible?
