Just thought I would post this information as it may be useful to some other fishkeepers:

"Enzo Household Ammonia"
£1 for 500ml bottle
9.5% ammonia
90.5% distilled water

It's readily available throughout UK, but is produced by Lausco Services in Wales (I phoned them today to get this info and they were very helpful).

I've been having great success with this ammonia during my current new tank fishless cycle (see other post in the Tropical forum) and as its pure ammonia I dont think I'll have to worry about any phosphates, chemicals, perfumes, etc.

Got some more info through from Lausco today about the Ammonia:
PH = 13.0 - 14.0
RELATIVE DENSITY = 1.0 - 1.1
AQUATIC TOXICITY = LC50 96h < 1mg/l
VAPOUR PRESSURE = 760 MM Hg at 20 degress C.
COMPOSITION:
10% Ammonia Solution
Irritant, Xi (R36-37-38)

Can anyone advise me on where to buy ammonia. I looked today in a few shops but I'm not sure where to look really.

Syringes for accurate measuring can be had for free from siddys chemist 100yards away

It can also be purchased in the larger Boots stores. White bottle with a red cap. About £1.50 for quite a lot. Got me through my cycle :)

While we are on the subject I happen to have quite a few syringes that we've got with childrens medicine over the years but where can you buy things like syringes, pipettes, test tubes and other associated equipment?

I got my syringe from a Chemist, and I believe most well stocked chemists will keep them.

Also, I got a whole bundle of old test tubes, syringes and pipettes from a school which closed in my area. Perhaps schools have these sitting around as surplus and would welcome a local fishkeeper giving them a call?
