moss balls #1
I had this question sent to me today

Quote:
Mossballs

Hi

On a picture you posted of your betta there was a moss ball beside it. Please could you tell me if moss balls are very good plants just ive often looked at them as they sound interesting. Thanks,

Kieran

Moss balls(marimo balls) are a very good addition to any tank, some fish love to nibble at them they help absorb excess nutriments in the water that algae love, they are more like free floating plants and move around so not fixed the dont float and block out light. I won an auction on ebay and got 3 balls and 2 lily bulbs for about £3, and they are all excellent, search for marimo balls

eBay

dont pay more than about £2 for a few, watch the P & P charges some people charge loads more that the actual postage, mine have grown a bit, slow growing though, these dont overgrowd the tank, di

Hi

Thanks for all the advice you gave me about moss balls. I liked the sound of them so ive bought a pack of 10 of them off ebay. Do you think they will take away some of the green-ness in my water. Also i have a 180L tank so do you think 10 is too many just if it is i could give a coupel away to my friends.

I think you will need no more that 3 or 4, however i dont know what happens if you put more in, so give it a try. di

Hi Di,

They look quite cool, do you treat them like any other plant?

Mine came today and i washed them then put them in my tank. Three of them sunk to the bottom and the other 7 just stay in the top corner. There pretty cool though
