strange green creature!! #1
While feeding fish this morning we've found a small approx 1/2 inch long green stick insect type creature, it has large white "goggly" eyes and a very thin narrow body and 6+ legs. At the end of its tail it has three spike like bits sticking out, tried to take a picture but couldn't get focus correct. Just dubious in case it may be harmful to the other fish, anybody any ideas!!??!!

Its a mayfly larva if its got the gills on its side or a damslyfly larva if it aint got the gills.

I found one in my tropical tank a while back and although it didnt do any harm, if left to get bigger it could take small fish (e.g. tetras)

Thanks guys, from the picture link it looks identical to the mayfly nymph.
Only thing that now concerns is checked in tank now and it's dead!! Should I be concerned that it may have laid eggs or is that likely to be the end of it, forgive my ignorance but figure better off asking what I don't know rather than make mistakes!!

i'm pretty sure with those that it's only the adult stage that can reproduce so you will be ok!

are you sure it's dead because they moult you might just be looking at an empty cast??

We've fished it out now and pretty sure it's the whole thing, will just have to keep an eye out for any more.
Thanks.
