Question on weather loach #1
Just got one to go in with my goldfish, couldn't resist!
The caresheet says to feed cooked peas, but goldies get them raw. Can loach eat raw and goldies eat cooked?
Does this make me sound really thick?
Cheers Carol.

Re: Question on weather loach #2
You should boil them for both goldfish and weather loaches.

Nice golden weather loach.

David

ps, it was me that made that care sheet.

He is lovely isn't he. He's in the tank now and getting settled.
Will cook peas for all from now on, thanks.

PS Thanks for the care sheet, it was seeing that, that got me interested in having one.

Re: Question on weather loach #4
sorry to disagree... but you dont have to boil them... more nutritious if they are uncooked.

Re: Question on weather loach #6
probably, or he could be just chillin out. they are mental fish normally, but their behaviour can be influenced by the weather, they can go a bit more mental just before a storm! quite cool really, living barometers!

Re: Question on weather loach #7
The guy in the shop told me that one he had many years ago jumped out of its tank one night and he found it the following morning halfway down the stairs covered in fluff and cat hairs. he said he picked it up, put it back in the tank and it lived a long life afterwards. Don't know if he was winding me up though.

Re: Question on weather loach #8
Cooked peas verses uncooked that is the question think if you buy fresh garden peas then you can blanch them slightly, if you buy frozen then all you need to do is leave a few to defrost, but if you are in a hurry then again you can slightly blanch to soften them, I just tend to leave mine to defrost and then chop small for the fish as then they retain all their goodness like coralline mentioned

Re: Question on weather loach #10
Mine has livened up a little bit now, which I'm glad about.
At the risk of sounding like an over-anxious mother , how do you make sure that he is getting enough to eat, greedy goldfish seem to gobble everything up before it gets to the bottom.
