I came home and found this on my clove polyp

Im worried ???? What is it ?

I have 3 hermit crabs - 2 sexy shrimp - 1 cleaner shrimp
1 Turbo snail.

well to be honest they look like eggs to me... will investigate and see what i can find out...

The only thing I noticed are that my pair of Sexy shrimp were nearby.

And last night I noticed one of them picking at the some of the eggs...

But Im think how can something so small produce so many large size eggs like that in comparison to their own body size...

nudibranch eggs ?

Someone mentioned to be careful that Clove Polyps sometimes have nudibranchs hiding in them ...

Eeek what should I do
Im willing to scarifice the clove polyp if need be ...

I dont have lots of equipment - just the tank itself.

Ive asked a few experts at my LFS and with this sudden occurence happening mid week they think its actually coral eggs...

As they reported several people called in mid week with strange bead like things in water - FULL MOON and all that !
and I remember when ive watched nature programs that coral eggs look like that ...

So panic over!

thats really cool! thats what i meant tho coral eggs, coz it looked like they were coming from the polyps themselves..

wow hopefully they will settle and grow, you can make yourself a few quid with polyp frags! lol

hmm good point hadnt thought about that - I thought they needed sperm from other corals to make them fertilise but you could be right ...

Wow, thats really cool! I think i remember seeing a discovery channel documentary that said an entire reef would spawn all at once on one night a year under a full moon so the coral had a chance to propegate without all the eggs being eaten... if i recall correctly, they release the sperm and egg into the water at the same time... but i could be off on that one.
