you spend the weeks before you go making sure tank is bit cleaner than usual, make sure theres no dying plants, no poorly fish. dont add anything new to the tank at least a month before you are going. feed them a little more than usual for a week or so before you go, best to feed more than once a day to do this, not chuck more food in for each feeding, you only want to fatten them a little not pollute the tank. then just before you go, one last decent water change, and either leave someone measured out amounts of food and strict instructions, or leave them without, if its not for longer than two weeks.
