Re: Help needed with protein skimmer please #11
No, although I'm told aqua medic are very good, so hopefully I will get it right eventually as I think the problem lies somewhere between me and the instructions rather than the equipment

I've swapped it with a tmc v2 skim 600. The internet shop that I bought it from were kind enough to take it back even though I explained the problem was with me not the equipment and it was now used. I'll be using them as much as I can in the future.

Good, I'm glad. I can advise better on the v2 skimmers as we have the 400 on our nano (and the 1000 I think on our big tank). Hope you have more luck with this one

Thanks, it seems to be working ok but there are still some microbubbles getting through the bubblestop back into the aquarium, but I hope this will settle down soon.

yep, again we are back to getting the adjustments "just so" for the air etc. A few bubbles are fine it is not so good when you have loads

Re: Help needed with protein skimmer please #18
It said to let it settle down for about 48 hours, not with the water level at full skimming height, therefore the amount of air is only going to increase. However, the guy from aqua-medic said that some salts have an agent to help skimming and that this may cause "over-bubbling" but he seemed to think it would settle down eventually. I'll keep you posted, thanks for the advice as I would have been completely tearing my hair out otherwise. I think I will ignore it for a few days and then see if it has improved. Did yours produce alot of bubbles at first, or did you put it on a mature tank?

good thought. You are right. Our skimmer produced more bubbles at first and then settled down. I just verified it with the other half!.

Still producing a few bubbles into the tank and is a bit noisy. I am going to add the live rock and see if it settles when it has some proper work to do.
