Goldfish and Guppies? #1
Howdy! I just started this tank, its my first one. (Minus the Two fish I had when I was eight, but those don't really count.) And when I bought the fish a friend I was with got three guppies as well- Now the man at the petstore said these would be ok with the gold fish, but they are tropical fish correct?

I was wondering if I got a heater for the tank, Could I kee pthe guppies in with the gold fish? Or would it just be best to set up the other tank we have in our house (55 Gallon) for the guppies.. Thanks in advance :D

set up the 55 gal for the goldfish and do a swap as goldies need more room than tropicals and no they wont mix as the heater will speed up the goldfishes life wich no-
one wants

p.s how big is the goldfish tank

The gold fish are really small right now- Once they get too be 3 inches I'm putting them out back in the pond my mom has with the other fish.

Right now the guppies are in a small 2 gallon tank thing I have, just because I cleaned the 10 gallon tank today.

In the 10 gallon I have 5 fish total. But none of them are over an inch long yet.

Re: Goldfish and Guppies? #5
it is still a bit small i have a 4 gal and only have one inch long fish

but if i were u instead of putting the fish in the pond put the goldies in the 55 gal as they can live in there and still grow big and make the 10 gal a small tropical tank 4 the guppies

Sounds good to me- But If I'm breeding the guppies aren't they going to need a lot more room?

in a 10 gal u could keep the guppies and their fry as many will not make it to adulthood so your tank shouldnt be overcrowded also you could give the fry away to friends and your lfs

lfs?

ITs ok- The guppies werent suposed to live this long. I might just wait for my friend to get her tank set up, and then give them to her.. since they are hers tech.

Edit: LFS- Local Fish Store. Got it. :D
