40L tank capacity #1
Hello all,

I am starting out with a 40L tank and I want to make sure it is not overcrowded.

I was advised this variety and species by our local pet shop which is known for their tropical fish.

We have 5 neon tetra, 2 shrimp, 2 Otocinclus and 1 beta fish. There is also 2 snails which randomly appeared when we first set it up guessing from the live plants.

Does this seem ok?

Re: 40L tank capacity #2
It's not overstocked, but the advice is poor, as Neons and Otocinclus need the water to be cooler than a Betta prefers. Neons can also be fin-nippers, so they may nip at the Betta's fins, and Bettas are potentially quite aggressive and may bully the other fish. Usually, we'd advise that a Betta be kept alone in a 40-litre tank.
