Changing meds urgently for new Apistogramma
#1
Last Monday I bought an Apistogramma Hongsloi. A beautiful fish but it never behaved right in the tank. In the first day I put it down to just getting used to its new environment but on the second day it started shaking and flicking off substrate and rocks.
I watched it closely for the next few days and phoned the store I bought it from in Friday to see whether they had any issues, which they said they didn’t. I couldn’t see any white spot so on Saturday I treated the tank with anti external parasite from interpet. Disappointingly I came down on Sunday to find my Hongsloi and 5 banded barbs covered in white spot (although you can only see 2 spots on the photo).
Since then the Hongsloi has got worse. It is now sitting on the bottom and hiding in corners. I feel like it might be too late but I have some Waterlife Protozin arriving tomorrow. The external parasite treatment says don’t use any more meds for 7 days, however, if I leave it that long I suspect it’ll be too late.
What would happen if I do a 30% water change and add the Waterlife tomorrow?
I’m trying to work out the best chance of survival.
It’s very disappointing as I have only had 5banded the tank for around 6 months and they were in perfect condition.
Current set up a 140 litre slim 100cm long tank.
0 ammonia
0 nitrites
10 nitrates
PH 6.4
No new additions including plants for around 6 months.
Edit: I’ve tried attaching photos. Pressed upload and then it disappears. Not sure what I’m doing wrong.
