One of my Angelfish has fungus eating into his spine. Small bits of fungus also erupting over his body - he's getting worse. It was first caused by a bite from a larger Angelfish.

I have treated with ESHA 2000 (2 courses of treatment) and with Methylene Blue (2 courses of treatment). The Esha when squirted over his fungus removed a little of it, but it keeps growing. I've dabbed the Methylene onto the fungus, it dyed some of the fungus blue, but did not stop it growing.

I need to know whether he is salvageable as its eaten into him quite a lot now. See photos.

If so, what product do I use? I can now only afford something that'll work for sure.

Need responses quickly please, otherwise it's painless euthanasia by sedative.

Sorry to read about this. I would:
* ensure that you maximise filtration to minimise gasping by ensuring that the filter outflow provides as much surface agitation as possible (and use an airstone if you have one);
* try Myxazin - looking at Waterlife's products (which are excellent) https://www.waterlife.co.uk/tropical, either Myxazin or Protozin might be helpful - I would have said Protozin for the fungus but my concern is that its depth into the fish runs the risk of an ulcer/fintrot and bacterial infection, and Myxazin might be the better option in this case.

Hi. The fungus on your angelfish might be caused by stressful or poor water quality conditions. Or open sores and wounds can sometimes attract fungus. If it's like a white cottony growth on your angelfish then it's a mark of a fungal infection. Do an immediate 20 to 30 percent water change. The best recommendation is to use a general fungal treatment available from the local fish store. If only one fish is affected, isolate that fish in a quarantine tank for treatment.
