I’ve just joined so hello to all, I hope you are all doing well. I have a Rio 350 with 4 red neck/shoulder severums (3 male, 1 female) and one remaining blue accara (female) left from 4. The fish were all purchased together and are now just over 2 years old. 2 of the severums have started breeding and have become very aggressive and are harassing the other fish. I cannot separate the breeding pair as I don’t have the space for another tank. Should I consider trying to re-home the female to calm things down or will the 3 males still fight for dominance . I really love all of the fish and would rather not see any go but just want to do what’s best for them.
Sorry for the long post.
Thanks in advance 🙏
Ps. Not sure why the photos upside down? Sorry for the neck aches
The tank is big enough then, even when they finish growing. I have a pair of these in my 6ft but started with 5 juveniles. When they matured there were two pairs and a spare male, and with a breeding pair at each end and a male being bullied by both it was chaos so I rehomed all but a pair. The male is now about 8 inches long. I think if you don't want to breed them they'll settle after the female has gone.
Thanks for the reply. I’m not interested in breeding them so this seems like the only real option available. it’s a shame as she is a lovely specimen. Now to try and find someone ‘worthy enough’ to take her
I was wondering if I could pick your brain again. I ended up separating the 2 males (moved them to a 240 litre) and left the pair in with the accara and a candy stripe plec. All seems calm. I was looking to introduce 6 Bosemani rainbows into the 350l but am wondering if you think the sevs will tolerate them?
