I have a Male betta in a 60 litre tank by itself and noticed yesterday that its fins seem to be torn, I will attach a photo but just wanted to know if this looks like fin rot or anything else before I start treatment.

This is a water test from today and to me it seems okay unless any of you think otherwise?

Nitrate - 20 ppm
Nitrite - 0 ppm
Ph - 6.5
Kh - 2.2⁰
Gh - 6.7⁰

Do you have a test result for ammonia? Ammonia is the most likely problem in a new set up and can precipitate fin rot, which is what he appears to have. Post your ammonia result as we need to know if that needs action in conjunction with treatment for fin rot. Treat the fin rot with Esha 2000 or Waterlife Myxazin.

I have just started treatment for fin rot with waterlife myxazin and have bought a neat little gadget called amonia alert by seachem so I can keep a constant tab on ammonia levels and it is currently reading <0.02 ppm (safe).

I will give you the final report in 5 days to see if the fin rot has healed or if ammonia levels change.
