Hi all

I currently have 2 fish tanks, and wondering if I could use one as a coldwater tank. Have read a lot about fish sizes etc but are there any coldwater fish that would be happy in a 120 litre tank, 80cmx30cmx50cm in size?

And does anyone know what a Schob (I think that's what it said) is, very colourful if that helps.

Any help much appreciated.

Certainly, Zebra Danios, White Cloud Minnows, Golden Dwarf Barbs for a start - all of those would be happy in a 120L. They aren't strictly cold water, but temperate. They won't need a heater for most of the year but might want one in winter if the room drops below about 18C.

Would any goldfish be suitable for the tank, a black molly or calico fantails at all?

Unfortunately, no, it's not big enough for goldfish. They are large and quite dirty fish and because (in the case of fancies) their bodies are deformed they rely on excellent water quality to compensate for problems they have arising from their deformities.

One of the tanks could be temperate with the types of fish that Fishlady gives examples of, while the other could be the higher-temperature tropical tank. Hope that clarification helps.
